Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Edinburgh, meet your Tour Manager and transfer into the city. A short panoramic sightseeing tour will help you get your bearings before a few hours to explore at leisure. There's so much to see, from the Castle to excellent museums and art galleries.

In the afternoon we'll continue to the hotel.

Day Two

Today you'll take a scenic drive to Loch Lomond, the largest stretch of inland water in Britain. Enjoy a two-hour cruise through Rob Roy Country listening to the skipper's commentary while enjoying a complimentary Rob Roy Whisky Coffee as you sail to Rob Roy's Cave and Prison, past the impressive Arklet Waterfalls.

Afterwards, we'll continue to Inveruglas and the new pyramid-shaped vantage point, An Ceann Mor - Gaelic for 'large headland' - for views of the Arrochar Alps and Ben Lomond. Our final stop is picturesque Luss, with its cottages and delightful church. Relax with a cup of tea or perhaps take a short stroll by the Loch.

Day Three

A spectacular lochs tour awaits, today, heading over the Erskine Bridge, alongside the Firth of Clyde, to Arrochar. We'll continue to Inverary, considered to be one of the most attractive towns in Scotland, before returning along Loch Fyne, Loch Eck and famous Holy Loch, and crossing the Firth of Clyde from Dunoon to Gourock as we head back to the hotel.

Day Four

Today you'll head to South Queensferry for a Firth of Forth cruise. Visit the lovely island of Inchcolm, with its two beautiful beaches and basking seals, and where the 12th-century Abbey remains Scotland's best preserved monastic site.

The return journey takes us back under the iconic Forth Railway Bridge, the Forth Road Bridge and the massive new road bridge that's currently under construction.

Day Five

This morning, experience the extraordinary Falkirk Wheel - the world's only rotating boat lift. Sail, in one of the special boats, into The Wheel's lower 'caisson', which then gracefully lifts the boat up to join the Union Canal 35 metres above. After time to explore the Visitor Centre, continue to Edinburgh, where there may be time to sightsee before you transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Further Information

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately three hours.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Train journeys

Please note, the West Highland and Kyle lines are both scheduled ScotRail services, and use diesel-powered engines. In the unlikely event of a steam locomotive breaking down on the Strathspey Railway, we reserve the right to substitute the engine with a diesel locomotive. All train journeys are single journeys.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Airport development fees

An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.
