Resort Information

One of Ireland's most picturesque settlements, Tralee offers a variety of attractions. Discover the town's medieval past at the Kerry County Museum, or explore the restored Blennerville Windmill (about a 10-minute drive from the town centre), which features an audio-visual presentation and a birdwatching platform.

Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Cork, where you will meet your Tour Manager and enjoy the scenic transfer to Tralee. After checking in at your hotel, and depending on the time of your flight, the rest of the day is yours to unpack and to explore the town.

Day Two

This morning we will head to the Killarney National Park. Here you will enjoy an hour-long ride in a horse-drawn jaunting car (Ireland's most traditional mode of transport, and the only kind allowed in this area), during which your driver will spin tales of local legends and Irish history.

We'll then board the MV Pride of the Lakes for a cruise on beautiful Lough Leane. There really is no better way to enjoy the Park's hidden delights and the famous Killarney Lakes. After time to have lunch and explore the town of Killarney itself we'll return to our hotel.

Day Three

Today's tour of the rugged Dingle Peninsula will reveal its outstanding mountain and coastal scenery, inspiration for such films as 'Ryan's Daughter' and 'Far and Away'.

At Slea Head, Europe's most westerly point, we'll visit the Blasket Island Heritage Centre for a fascinating insight into the unique community that inhabited the islands until their evacuation in 1953.

There will also be time to explore the peninsula's main town - the lively fishing port of Dingle, with its arts and crafts shops, pubs and cafes.

Day Four

Dating from the 15th Century, Bunratty Castle (entry payable locally) is the most complete and authentic medieval castle in Ireland. It has been carefully restored to its former splendour, while turn-of-the-century Irish village life has been recreated in the adjoining Folk Park.

A visit to Adare, one of Ireland's loveliest villages, completes the day. Dating back to AD 1200, the village is steeped in history. It's home to arts and crafts shops and a wealth of architectural styles, including thatched cottages, beautiful stone buildings and medieval monasteries.

Day Five

Today's final tour traces the spectacular Ring of Kerry around the Iveragh Peninsula. Visit the towns that dot the route, and witness its wonderful natural beauty. Highlights include the magnificent Coomakista Pass, and the views of the Macgillycuddy's Reeks and the glaciated Black Valley from Molls Gap.

Day Six

Bid farewell to Tralee as we return to the airport to check in for your flight home.

Further Information

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately three hours.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Train journeys

Please note, the West Highland and Kyle lines are both scheduled ScotRail services, and use diesel-powered engines. In the unlikely event of a steam locomotive breaking down on the Strathspey Railway, we reserve the right to substitute the engine with a diesel locomotive. All train journeys are single journeys.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Airport development fees

An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.
