Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Cork, meet your Tour Manager and transfer by coach to your hotel in the pretty town of Rosscarbery. Check in, then explore, relax or pamper yourself at the hotel's leisure facilities.

Day Two

Take a trip through Irish history as we visit Clonakilty, the birthplace of hero of Irish independence, Michael Collins, the ruined 13th-century Franciscan abbey at Timoleague, and Kinsale, where the James and Charles forts long guarded the harbour against the threat of French and Spanish invasion.

Browse the brightly coloured shopfronts that line Kinsale's streets, and perhaps head to the quayside for lunch in one of the excellent cafes and restaurants.

Day Three

Today we'll follow the Wild Atlantic Way to the Beara Peninsula. This haunting landscape is the backdrop to Daphne du Maurier's 'Hungry Hill' and as it unfolds past the aquatic sports haven of Adrigole and the artists colony at Castletownbere it becomes ever more rugged and timeless.

Looping further south, our next stop will be Bantry House, the current and ancestral home of the Earls of Bantry. Discover the house's history and the magnificent Italian gardens inspired by the travels of the 2nd Earl on a guided tour.

Day Four

Highlights of today's visit to Cork will include the three spires of St Fin Barre's cathedral and the enticing local produce offered up at the English Market. With its waterways, narrow alleys and Georgian avenues the compact city centre is a delight to explore.

We'll head the delightful town of Cobh arriving in time for you to have lunch (payable locally). From the 1600s to the 1950s over three million Irish men and women embarked for new homes here, and the troubled history of that long period of emigration is explored in the port's excellent Heritage Centre.

Day Five

We'll return to the Wild Atlantic Way, today, on our way to Mizen Head, Ireland's most southwestern point. As the currents from the south and west coasts crash into the rocks you'll have time to explore the visitor centre, take in the astounding scenery and perhaps cross the Mizen Footbridge to the island of Cloghan to explore the Signal Station which features a number of interesting little exhibitions.

We'll also stop in Skibbereen, a town at the centre of the Great Hunger of the 1840s and which is now home to the fascinating and very moving Great Famine Commemorative Exhibition.

Day Six

Spend a final few hours relaxing in your hotel and its surroundings before our coach carries you back to the airport to board your flight home.

Further Information

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately three hours.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Train journeys

Please note, the West Highland and Kyle lines are both scheduled ScotRail services, and use diesel-powered engines. In the unlikely event of a steam locomotive breaking down on the Strathspey Railway, we reserve the right to substitute the engine with a diesel locomotive. All train journeys are single journeys.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Airport development fees

An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.
